How to reach Sardinia

Many people ask us if it is better to arrive by plane or by ferry.

By plane

If you are coming to Sardinia for a weekend or for a short period the best solution is definitely to take a plane.

There are now several companies that fly to 3 main airports in Sardinia: Olbia and Alghero in the north and Cagliari in the south.

The only disadvantage when you come by plane is the public transport connections, which don't function very well in Sardinia. In that case, we advise you to rent a car at the airport.

By boat

Another way is to arrive by boat, which takes between 5 and 10 hours.

There are several ports in Sardinia: Olbia, Golfo Aranci, Porto Torres, Santa Teresa di Gallura, Cagliari and Arbatax.

The ferry offers the possibility of transporting your own car, which is an almost indispensable means of transport for those wishing to visit Sardinia.
